It was with a strong sense of gratitude at the end of Term 3 that we farewelled our Principal, Mr John Thompson celebrating nine years of his dedicated service to our community. Under his leadership, Victory Lutheran College has not only grown, but truly flourished. Mr Thompson embodied commitment, tirelessly fostering growth, inspiring curiousity and a love for learning. The academic programs at Victory have grown stronger and more diverse, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to discover their passions and reach their full potential.
Mr Thompson championed innovation in the teaching and learning, integrating technology in ways to help prepare students for the future whilst maintaining the core principles of the Lutheran faith.
As part of his farewell speech, Mr Thompson shared the following with the Victory community:
“What I cherish most are the relationships that have flourished within this community. I have been blessed to work with an incredible team of educators who bring dedication, creativity and care to their work every single day. I have witnessed our students grow into confident, capable and compassionate young leaders, ready to make their mark on the world. And I have seen the unwavering support of our families, whose partnership has been instrumental in our collective success.
As I now pass on the baton to the next Principal, I am confident that Victory Lutheran College will continue to thrive. The seeds planted by the caretakers who have come before will continue to bear fruit and the College’s mission will carry on with the same strong sense of purpose. The next Principal inherits a community that is
strong, supportive, ever forward-looking and one that I am very proud of.”
While it was difficult to say goodbye, we are thrilled for Mr Thompson and his family as they now head to Adelaide where Mr Thompson will embark on a new chapter as Principal of Immanuel College. We extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes as he moves forward.
Announcing Mr Brad Moss as our next Principal
As we bid farewell to one remarkable leader, we are excited to announce the appointment of our new Principal, Mr Brad Moss, who will officially join Victory in the new school year. Mr Moss comes to us from St John’s Lutheran School, Jindera and St Paul’s, Henty (both located North of Albury/Wodonga) where he has served as Principal across the two school communities. Prior to that Mr Moss held the position of Principal at St John’s Lutheran Primary School in
Portland, Victoria.
In his previous appointments, Mr Moss has shown a Christian leadership and servanthood, which has led to the two school communities growing in education qualities and enrolment numbers. The Victory Lutheran College Board looks forward to Mr Moss building on the success of prior leadership that has blessed Victory, to inspire and empower our students for a bright future.
Mr Moss also holds many active positions within the wider Lutheran Schools; most recently Brad has served as a Chair (Riverina Principal HUB), Principal Representative (LEVNT Leaders Advisory Group), LEVNT Principal Delegate (General Synod) and Professional Mentor (LEA Leadership Development Program).
"Matilda Jr." Steals the Spotlight
At the beginning of Term 4, our community had the pleasure of stepping into the colourful world of “Matilda Jr.”, where courage, friendship, and a touch of magic unfolded on stage, all brought to life by our talented Years 5 & 6 students.
The night was filled with laughter and pride as we watched our students embody the beloved characters of Roald Dahl’s classic story. Matilda, the spirited girl who loves books and defies the odds, was brilliantly portrayed by Elexia Buchanan, capturing her character’s mischievousness.
Under the guidance of our co-directors, Mrs Katie Heinrich and Ms Debbie Olejniczak, the cast and crew worked tirelessly, attending rehearsals and learning songs, dances, and lines that made the three evening performances a triumph. The teamwork, dedication, and passion our students showed was a testament to their talent and commitment to bring this production to life!
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parents/carers and teachers, who worked behind the scenes. Whether it was helping with costumes, designing the set, managing sound and lighting, this production was a community effort in every sense that helped our young stars to shine.
The memories made during Matilda Jr. were priceless, reminding us of the importance of creativity, courage, and the joy of storytelling.
Year 12 Farewell
Our celebrations to farewell Year 12 are always one of nostalgia but also a wonderful finale to their 13 years of schooling, filled with dress ups, community service and loads of laughter.
Just prior to their final Assembly, Year 12 planted their memorial tree along the fence line of the oval, the beginning of a new locale for this wonderful Victory tradition.
The final Assembly is always a bittersweet occasion, filled with both joy and reflection. The final addresses from Acting Principal, Mr Gary Harding and message from College Captains Adelaide Robb and Lochlan Moffat to Year 12 in front of the entire College community were well received by the graduates. The presentation of graduation bears is always a memorable moment for the graduating class as they celebrate their journey and look ahead to the future.
We are really proud of each and every one of our Year 12 graduating class and welcome them back at any time as members of VOCA, our Victory Old Collegians’ Association.
