Dr Suess’ Birthday
There was an array of colours and movement on Tuesday, 02 March when students and staff celebrated Dr Seuss’ birthday. It was great to see so many students and staff dress up as various Dr Seuss book characters. There was a special Dr Seuss “treat box” which included delicious Hop-On Popcorn, One Fish Two Fish Jelly and a Cat in the Hat Cupcake. Chaplain Mick (below) shared stories in the library and everyone enjoyed a reader’s theatre performance by Year 5 students. We were also pleased to raise over $400 on the day to go towards Myeloma Australia.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week: Everyone Belongs was held from 15-21 March, celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity. The week was about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Throughout the week students focused on these values and qualities. On Friday, 19 March students participated in some coordinated Harmony Day activities. International lunches were available from the school canteen, students wore a splash of orange and they took part in international games on the oval.
Anzac Day
On Friday, 23 April students and staff were involved in an ANZAC Day service at school. A guest speaker and bugler from Kapooka help lead the commemoration. Our SRC representatives laid a small tribute at the base of the flagpole. Events such as this are an important reminder of the sacrifices men and women made for us so that we might enjoy the way of life and freedom we all experience today.
