GNLC Years 1 -4 Building Construction – Stage 7
After the construction pause and strict government restrictions being lifted, we are back in full swing with the development of the Junior School building. The progress is evident with the ground floor walls being erected. In construction lingo ‘we are out of the ground’ and once the roof on the first floor has been built (which is not far away), then inclement weather will have minimal to no impact on our future progress.
Traffic Management
The impact on traffic delays caused by construction was mitigated by developing a pickup/drop-off zone at the back of the Gym, which was made possible by the Facilities Team, in particular Mr Tien Tong and Mr Errol Werner. They worked tirelessly for three days to make it functional before the students returned to school.
Other anticipated traffic delays, such as concrete work for the new building with large vehicles moving around the site, will be planned in such a way as to reduce the impact on the College’s community. However, where it cannot be avoided, we will communicate this to all, well in advance, to avoid as much inconvenience as possible.
Progress
Lyons Construction has made significant progress with the construction, as can be seen from the following photos:
Future Works
In the next month, the first floor will be fully concreted. Over the Christmas break, we will complete all major underground infrastructure works. This will be highly disruptive however, this will be done prior to Term 1 2022 commencing.
