Up there with some of the best Contemporary Learning Tours.
Some of the best digging and connecting by Lutheran Education Leaders I have every seen on tour. Derek
Some Heartfelt Reflections from the Sydney Contemporary Learning Tour Adventurers after arriving back at their schools last week.
The tour gave me the time to remember the why. We are called to educators to support children to become the next generation of custodians for our world. The tour gave me time to reflect on my influence as a leader and some tools and strategies I could use in my own context to support contemporary change
Such an awakening to endless possibilities that contemporary learning can foster. Nourishment for the soul and a thirst to know more.
I didn’t know why I didn’t know, but now I do.
This tour gave me the opportunity, the language and the confidence to engage with my colleagues on all aspects of contemporary learning. We are now able to collaborate on a shared pathway where we can implement many of the amazing practices we discovered together.
This tour has shown me the possibilities we all have as educators to find better ways to develop the minds and hearts of young Australians, empowering them to become thoughtful, well-adjusted, and valued global citizens. Seeing teaching and learning in action through contemporary environments and pedagogies has helped everything to fall into place for me as I work towards providing better opportunities for my students.
I have a fire in my belly!!
Meeting with the Science staff at LLV opened my eyes to how effectively collaborative practice could be used to design learning sequences & activities. Their capacity to map outcomes, integrate whole school focuses (like "play") and design interesting, engaging lessons was exceptional to hear.
Being a young teacher in a leadership role, I have been inspired to recognise all the wonderful opportunities that come with contemporary learning frameworks. Contemporary learning is setting up young people for life, not just the education system. If we continue to align with the old ways we will lose our young people's spark.
Great to see, feel and gain perspective on creative learning, to enable a shared vision and goals for our school. It is still overwhelming, but how do we eat an elephant? One bite at a time
So truly blessed to have the opportunity to share in a school's contemporary learning journey.
Grateful for the vision and generosity of others.
"It can feel a little overwhelming to be so inspired. Knowing that I have a responsibility to draw attention to practises and routines that need to be challenged, changed, burner, deconstructed.
However this really isn't a negative, it's a massive opportunity."
Thank you Andrew & Derek for your work in organising this tour. I have attended many PL courses and this is absolutely in my top 2.
Your passions are evident in the planning and thought provoking questions and activities which we have experienced over the past three days. Thank you! "
Andrew and Derek were brilliant at bringing both group and content together. As a board member I cannot praise them enough for their ability to keep the tour on point and always relevant to me, and to each member of the group. Thankyou so much.
Worth the brain explosion. You will go into it thinking one thing and most probably walk out thinking something totally different. Be open to where the journey may take you
A must that they too must experience for themselves. Seeing is believing if you only dare to dream. Mantra - we try everything and it is ok to fail.
"It helps you understand your school’s vision
It gives you permission to be a leader of change
It gives you ideas about what you can do differently that will lead to significant improvements
i’m achieving a contemporary learning environment."
Enlightening, affirming and a kick up the backside to be the agent for change, rather than just have an opinion on it.
Eye opening, overwhelming, and inspiring.
Changing paradigms
An outstanding dive into looking at contemporary practice & how systems can support teachers to complete this valuable work
Put's fire back in your belly.
Brilliant, professionally and personally
