During the first week of the term break, 20 senior leaders from LEVNT (including principals, ECS staff, sub school leaders and LEVNT office staff), attended the inaugural theological symposium in Ballarat, ‘What Was I thinking’. Led by Dr Mark Worthing, the group explored ethical decision-making as a school /ECS leader. The purpose of the symposium was to provide an opportunity for principals and senior leaders to explore theological concepts and to discuss ways in which they can be applied when leading a school.
Through a balanced approach of the teaching of knowledge and the use of practical case studies / scenarios, participants were encouraged to apply the frameworks which were unpacked over the three days, in real life settings. These frameworks included the ethics of Jesus (based on the Sermon on the Mount) and practical application of some of our key Lutheran doctrines.
Due to the success of this inaugural event, preliminary discussions are underway to hold another symposium at the same time next year. Initial details for this will be circulated in the coming months.
