Many of our LEVNT schools are currently in the process of reviewing their Literacy focus and practice in the area of reading to ensure that what is happening in classrooms for students aligns to the current research and best practice approach.
There is a huge amount of research findings and resourcing available and the task of “going down the rabbit hole” can feel daunting and overwhelming.
Fortunately we have a number of leaders in our schools who have engaged heavily in this space and are happy to share the understanding they have developed and to share how this has informed their review and decision making moving forward.
We are inviting you to come yourself or send along someone from your school to engage with a full day focused on the teaching of reading in the primary years.
DATE: Tuesday 16 August
VENUE: Quality Hotel Tullamarine
TIME: 9:30am – 4:30pm
One the day we will engage with experts in the science of reading and hear from learning leaders in a couple of our schools who have been engaging in a review and are making significant changes to how reading is taught in their school.
We will also spend time discussing how the Science of Reading looks beyond P-2.
If you have not had the capacity to engage deeply in this space then this will be a great opportunity to learn from those in our region who are a few steps ahead on the path and are happy to share and engage with you.
If your school has already undertaken a review and is implementing change then this will be a fantastic opportunity both to share with and support others on their journey and to hear about the steps other schools are taking and to ask questions of your peers about areas where you are still researching and making decisions. It will also be a great opportunity to learn about new resources to help your teachers implement change.
