What do the following have in common- an airline pilot, a former social worker, and a church planter?
They’re all Chaplains in ministry in a LEVNT school.
The landscape and profile of ministry personnel in Lutheran Schools has changed significantly over the last couple decades. In times past, many schools had an ordained Lutheran (male) as the School Pastor, but now, these ministry folks come from a diverse and rich range of vocations and backgrounds…(and many are women).
To respond to this changed reality, LEA dhas eveloped an Introduction to Ministry in a Lutheran Context. This 3-day workshop is built around 4 key themes: Context of Lutheran Schools, Worship theology and practice, Pastoral care and Learning in a Lutheran School. The sessions introduce participants to key documents, policies and resources that shape and inform Lutheran schools with workshops to explore the implications. These workshops provide for accreditation for Ministry in a Lutheran School (Am). Workshops are being held in each Region this year to catchup on those currently serving in a ministry role.
We thank God for the gift of these wonderful ministry staff in all the variety of their roles. Please honour and pray for them as they support your community to grow in faith.
