Our Schools and Early Childhood Services take a student focused and holistic approach to learning. We pursue academic excellence through rigorous programs and aim to develop curious and creative thinkers who are engaged in learning and express their passions, talents and expertise in ways that benefit and contribute to the community.
Learning in a Lutheran school
Our schools encourage students to be risk takers in their learning in a safe and supportive environment where a growth mindset is valued and learning is understood to be a life-long journey.
Student wellbeing is a core factor to success in learning and life and our schools’ focus on wellbeing and positive relationships is a core component of who we are as learning communities. Pastoral care programs are a vital part of our holistic approach to learning.
Lutheran schools and early learning centres are innovative in their practice so that students will encounter a rich variety of authentic and purposeful learning experiences that are relevant to the context of the school in a variety of ways.
All students are challenged to become inquirers and investigators who are filled with curiosity so they can seek to identify and solve problems in creative ways that foster strong collaboration and communication.

Parenting and schools – a learning partnership
Lutheran Schools and Early Childhood Services are committed to partnering with families to provide the best possible learning experience for each student. We encourage dialogue and a shared responsibility in the education of our students. We believe that building a strong sense of community makes our schools a place of belonging for all and benefits everyone.
Spiritual Development
Lutheran schools aim to provide a Christ centred quality education for young Australians. The gospel of Jesus Christ informs all learning, teaching and human relationships.
LEVNT provides spiritual formation workshops, retreats and professional development sessions to build individual and collective staff spirituality. We provide programs to build staff effectiveness in delivering the Christian curriculum and work with each school to ensure they have an ongoing plan for spiritual formation for all staff.
LEVNT is responsible for ensuring each school and early learning centre in our region has an accreditation plan for staff and deliver accreditation training in the most flexible way possible to support schools and their teaching staff.
LEVNT is involved in developing a contemporary model for school and congregational partnerships in the 21st century.
Christian Studies
What is Christian Studies?
Christian Studies is a core academic subject taught from Prep to Year 12 so students can learn about God’s ongoing love and care for all people and for the planet on which we live. Through a Lutheran lens Christian Studies presents a Christian worldview to students and offers a pathway for making meaning in their lives, whilst acknowledging their individual journeys of faith.
Christian Studies provides a safe and supportive context in which students can reflect on their experiences of the world and on their own beliefs and spirituality as they attempt to make sense of their rapidly changing and complex global environment. ln the Christian Studies classroom learners are engaged in intellectually challenging experiences that actively involve them in constructing their own meanings. They pose their own questions, gather, analyse and reflect on information as they explore their identity as individuals in the 21st century.
Christian Studies Leaders
This network is regionally divided into hub groups, Central, Western and Riverina and membership is represented by Christian Studies Leaders from each of our schools. Christian Studies’ Leaders meet to share resources, exchange ideas and provide ongoing educational support to each other in their role within their school.
The Christian Studies Leaders meet once per term in their hub group at the following locations:
- Central Hub - St John's Southgate.
- Western Hub – at one of the represented schools.
- Riverina Hub – at one of the represented schools.
Valuing Safe Communities
Valuing Safe Communities (VSC) is compulsory training for all people who work within Lutheran schools. The VSC training has been designed specifically for school staff and volunteers to ensure the way they work will develop positive and safe communities. VSC integrates relevant national policies, procedures and guidelines that impact on relationships in Lutheran schools and embeds the LCA's Safe Place Policy within it.
LEVNT offers support to schools in running this training, either by providing materials and coaching to school leaders and trainers to deliver VSC in-house, or by providing trainers to run these sessions for schools.
