Reconciliation
Over the last two years there has been a focus on schools completing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Reconciliation in this context can be defined as:
‘Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians’. (Reconciliation Australia website)
Earlier this year the LEVNT office published our RAP, which will guide our actions over the next twelve months as we embed the process of reconciliation into our office culture. This RAP has been distributed to all schools.
Staff in the LEVNT office are committed to the reconciliation process and expect that all schools will also commit to this process. In the LEVNT office RAP, the Executive Director, Julian Denholm writes:
“ We (LEVNT staff) are committed individually and collectively to the actions, strategies and initiatives embedded within our RAP and we recognise that our authentic commitment to education and learning is fundamental to fulfilling its intentions”.
