As part of service to the wider church LEA is represented on the Domestic and Family Violence taskforce. Over recent years pastors and congregational members have been able to access information and further training through this group. We would now like to know if there is any support that schools might require which they have not been able to access elsewhere.
In particular, we are interested if there is a need to support principals, counsellors, or other school leaders in creating a school environment in which staff members feel safe in disclosing and seeking support. There may also be a need to support schools to recognise potential signs of domestic and family violence. Our enterprise agreements offer to leave to those in need who are experiencing forms of domestic and family violence, however, we are not sure how many staff members feel confident in coming forward.
