Each year hundreds of people gather for Education’s night of nights in Darling Harbour in Sydney to celebrate outstanding schools and to see which of the nominated finalists will be named the ultimate recipient of each award. There are multiple school based awards that celebrate everything from building to curriculum to professional learning and strategic plan design as well as categories of outstanding schools such as primary and secondary school of the year in both the public and independent domain. There are also individual awards for outstanding educators and leaders in schools. It is wonderful to win the category but it is also an excellent achievement to be celebrated as being amongst the most outstanding examples in Australia as a finalist nominee.
It was wonderful to be part of this night celebrating with John Thompson and some of his team from Victory Lutheran College who was among 8 schools nominated as finalist for Regional School of the Year. We congratulate John and the whole community of Victory for representing and being an example of the way Lutheran schools go above and beyond to provide an outstanding education experience to all who enrol in our Lutheran schools. There were Lutheran schools representing each of the regions on the night and nominated as finalists across several categories. It was wonderful to hear the phrase Lutheran College and Lutheran School being held up amongst many other excellent schools.
We don’t do what we do for accolades or glory but it is a wonderful thing for all of the hard work and love that is poured into our schools to fulfil our shared mission to be recognised and held up as being amongst the most outstanding examples of education in Australia.
